This series describes Mike’s leveraged investment plan in great detail.

“My Grand Plan” describes the basic leverage plan and includes a spreadsheet with detailed calculations.

“The Risks” - goes over all the various risks involved with this plan.

“Interest rate exposure” covers a risk analysis calculation to determine how much I can safely borrow.

FP,

Have you considered using futures/ or ultra longETF’s/ in order to leverage your portfolio?

Hi DGI – I haven’t considered futures or ultra long ETFs. They would certainly be a valid way to do it but I find that using a HELOC is the easiest way for me.

The other factor is taxes – dividends in Canadian companies are taxed much less heavily so my plan involves buying only Cdn dividend stocks.
